Just after the September 11 tragedy inside the United States, chauvinism and extremism developed in Americans, the media and high officials of the Bush Administration. American unity was projected with such force as to allow no questioning of the US policy. The US applied coercive diplomacy on weak states without bothering about public backlash or internal instability in these countries. Philippines, Uzbekistan, Indonesia, Yemen and almost all the Gulf states were forced to join Bush's anti-terrorism war. Meanwhile, via slipping and regrouping tactics, Al Qaeda combatants organized themselves to launch significant attacks against US allies. Despite the death of Osama Bin Laden, group terrorism in volatile countries demonstrates that Al-Quaeda has become an international franchise - like MacDonalds or 7-11 - independent of any central leadership.
