The problem, in Franken's view, is that tucked away inside the iPhone is a little database that keeps track of everywhere you go. The phone knows where you are based on which cell towers you're using. As Franken points out in his letter to Jobs, it's conceivable that someone could create a virus that would pull this data from people's devices. Worse, the data isn't even encrypted. It's just sitting there, waiting to be read. 'There's a certain amount of privacy that you might be willing to give up, but you should know that you are giving it up.' |
