Statue of Liberty illuminated for first time since Sandy

The Statue of Liberty reopened in October after $30 million worth of refurbishing. Access to the crown resumed on Oct. 28, 126 years after the statue's dedication. The next day Hurricane Sandy closed it down. After almost two weeks of darkness, the statue was re-lit on Friday, although the National Park Service says 'Due to conditions created by Hurricane Sandy, Statue of Liberty National Monument will be closed until further notice.'
