| Anyone, anywhere in the world, including Americans, can be targeted for assassination by a White House panel operating in secret and without judicial oversight. Reuters reports that they have heard from the panel members themselves, who did not want their names printed. There is no public record of the operations or decisions of the panel, which is a subset of the White House's National Security Council. Neither is there any law establishing its existence or setting out the rules by which it is supposed to operate. Obama, who ran for president denouncing predecessor GW Bush's expansive use of executive power in his 'war on terror,' is now using similar tactics, including secret legal justifications and undisclosed intelligence assessments.
