|Earlier this week, I posted here an editorial from The NY Times, which decried the insidious way that a senator with strong ties to Amgen, inserted an amendment into the fiscal cliff bill that cost us plenty and enriched the company which was lobbying heavily. Bill Moyers also found this unsettling. 'Following up on startling revelations about a cost-control exception U.S. senators provided to Amgen, the world's largest biotechnology firm, Bill talks to U.S. Rep. Peter Welch (D-Vt) about his effort to undo the damage and return half a billion dollars back to American taxpayers.'Watch it at this link or on his show. Today, a similar tactic by Senate Republicans in Richmond used the absence of a Democratic member, to ram through a surprise redistricting map patently designed to aid the G.O.P.'s grab for majority power in the next election.
