Michael Grunwald at Politico.com reports the content of a portion of the TPP that he has seen, but tells me that he does not have permission to post the original text. Drug prices are kept sky-high in the US, while in the rest of the world, competition by generic manufacturers offers equivalent products at a fraction of the price. There is a thriving Internet-based business re-importing drugs to the US that have been forbidden for domestic sale. If TPP passes, not only will the re-importation be stifled, but the availability of generics abroad will be curtailed. The text of the treaty is literally being written by the companies that will profit from it.
