|Education holds the prize for encouraging corrupt behavior when 'teaching' and teacher evaluation became the focus, not THE REAL STANDARDS, which actually WERE criteria for LEARNING; 'The 8 Principles of Learning' was Pew's third level research from Harvard, which was sold to the public as a 'demand for standardized testing'. If it had been thoroughly covered by real journalists, the rubric for learning would have been crystal clear that evaluation by performance standards is for teacher use. NO standardized testing was EVER in the NEW STANDARDS RESEARCH! Yet, the opportunity to sell standardized tests was too good to pass up, and FROM THAT the next move was to ignore the REAL standards for learning and instead, begin a NATIONAL CONVERSATION about evaluating teachers. This included a media frenzy about BAD teachers, DEAD WOOD and TEACHER CREDENTIALS. Here is what that BEGAT!|
