James Cameron becomes first person to make solo journey to ocean's deepest point

Movie director James Cameron has become the first person to make a solo journey to the deepest point of the ocean's floor -- almost seven miles below the surface. Cameron embarked on the solo trip in a sub he described as a "vertical torpedo," outfitted with 3D cameras and LED bulbs to capture video footage of the alien world. He spent about three hours on the ocean floor collecting research samples for marine biology, geology and geophysics and taking still photographs and video footage of the trench.
