Under a new law that's expected to be announced in May 2012, the government will be able to eavesdrop on the communications of everyone in the UK -- monitoring all phone calls, text messages, website visits and emails in real time. The legislation says that Internet service providers must hand over all communications to intelligence agency GCHQ. Officers will then be able to identify who an individual is in contact with, how often and for how long. Plus, any websites they visit will be recorded. |
