Will allowing the drilling for oil in 10 years help us?

Will allowing for the drilling in the ANWR or other areas of the United States help us? Please keep in mind that if authorized now, you will not see one drop of oil from these areas for at least 10 years, and that the oil companies are sitting on leases for 60,000 acres of drillable land now without drilling.

Why are we even having this debate? Oil=Bad. Don't drill!
We would be better prepared in 10 years by investing in alternative energy now.
Maybe, who knows?
Not now, but in 10 years it will. Drill!
Alternative energy will not be ready in 10 years, even if we invest heavily now. Drill!
Alternative energy is a fools quest. Fossil fuels are the way of the future. Drill!
Yes, it will drop the price of oil immediately. Drill!
Why are we even having htis debate? Oil=$ Drill!
