Should oil companies be permitted to drill off shore US?

America needs to become LESS dependent on oil. All drilling for more does is continue that dependence.

Oil companies will not reduce the price just because they drill closer to home. It is not in their best interest to do so when they can suck public oil and turn it into private wealth. As long as they can continue to drain the oil and sell it to us there will be little incentive for anyone to pursure alternatives such as electric vehicles or highly efficient gas powered cars and trucks.

Should we allow oil companies to drill, suck up public oil and convert it to private wealth while continuing our dependance on oil to move ourselves and our products?

NO more drilling. reduce dependance first
YES let them drill more wells
UNDECIDED
ALTERNATIVE. see my post.
