Poll: how should we balance concern for human and non-human animals?

Both human and non-human animals face suffering, cruelty, and deprivation. Since there are finite resources available for giving aid, how should we balance the needs of human and non-human animals?   An extreme speciesist might argue that the welfare of humans should always take precedence and that concern for non-humans is almost always misplaced. An extreme animal rights activist might say that every non-human animal (including rats and insects) is as precious as every human.

At what point, if at all, does concern for non-human animals become immoral, due to many unmet needs of humans?

The human species deserves no more concern than any other species.
Humans are more precious in general, but it depends on the species and suffering.
Humans are almost always more important than non-humans.
There is no conflict between caring for human & non-human animals. Both matter.
Other, or the question is poorly formulated. (Please explain in the comments.)
