Energy and mass transit in America as 10 to 20 year investment

Energy and mass transit in America as 10 to 20 year investment.

America obviously needs a better alternative energy grid.  It also needs to consider how to invest money on a transportation system that is more multifaceted than we have currently.

I would suggest that Americans demand that parallel to major cargo transport train lines that a superfast electric train system be set up for moving passengers and their cars around the country.

For example, my brother lives in western Kansas and 100 years ago, he could have put himself and his luggage on a train and moved to any part of the USA at a reasonable price.

After WWII the USA helped set up a good combination of passenger train and airlines.  Europeans have shown how this can be done for a continent of just around  400million  people.  The US will continue to grow in population and will reach this population size in a few decades.  A foresighted train and plane network is needed.

Most Germans, British, French, Spanish  and even Italian and Swiss citizens can begin a journey across the continent by train and end up in an airport terminal and return to ground transportation at many points on the continent.

Only a few Americans near the large cities in the USA can do this.

Putting cars and SUVs or whatever on trains should be part of this express passenger service.

The energy saved over the next few decades make this part of an overall great U.S. redevelopment plan.  Hooking up rural alternative electrification in Kansas and other parts of the US can go through and around these national railnetworks--networks where cars could be loaded in 5 minutes or so.

The question is would you support having the government putting up to 400 or 500 billion dollars into such an integrated transport network over the next two decades.

Absolutely, Europe has done it. Asia is doing it. Why shouldn't America?
NO firm opinion
No, it will be a big boondoggle
No, the economy can't afford it now--even though it is good for the environment etc.
