Buy American a good idea?

     I've noticed more and more advertisements from supposedly 3rd party sources that promote American autos such as the Ford Fusion..."Ford Fusion tops Prius", "Chevy Malibu outperforms Honda Accord & Hyundai Sonata"...etc...  Do you think there is some collusion here?  Based on what evidence do these new recommendations come?  Are these cars going to hold up?  Or is this a propaganda tactic?
