Are trolls effective?
It is fairly well understood that Republicans will use a variety of subtrafuges to prevent Democratic voters from voting successfully. There may be rigging of ballots or of voting machines but other techniques will be used too. As in past elections, Republicans will use an illegal technique called caging to remove legitimate voters from the voting rolls without their knowledge. Other voters will be urged to fill in phony voter registration papers so that they will not be properly registered. Still others will be directed to the wrong location to vote or told to vote on the wrong day. No doubt new an unanticipated techniques will be invented as well.Given all of this it seems quite possible that Republican trolls are visiting progressive web sites in an effort to convince people not to vote for the Democratic candidate. The objective of this poll is to weigh concern for this issue.People who read this site regularly have certainly seen articles and comments urging people to vote for one or another third party candidate or alternatively to boycott voting altogether. Undoubtedly, many authors of these articles and comments are entirely earnest in believing what they say. However, it is not at all unreasonable to think that some of these comments and articles come from trolls who are surreptitiously trying to help the Republican party. It is also quite possible that some come from earnest authors who have been indoctrinated by Republican trolls. The purpose of this poll is to weigh concern for these possibilities.
Ridiculous, Republicans would never do such a thing. It may have happened, but it has been very rareIt may not be so rare, but it can't have been at all effectiveI don't know, maybe this has been happeningSure, it's a significant problemBeats me. Nothing we can do about it. 54 votes View Results and Comments
