  Join Nadler Constituents for TradeJustice and Park River Independent Democrats (PRID) to learn about the threat posed by the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) -- Obama's secretly negotiated, corporate backed, 12 nation "NAFTA on steroids" free trade agreement -- and about actions we can take to stop it. We'll cover the full spectrum of concerns about TPP and give special attention to how TPP many undermine anti-fracking efforts. Gregory Meeks has been a thorn in our side for years. He was one of only 15 Democrats in the nation to vote for the Dominican Republic-Central America Free Trade Agreement and also voted for the Oman, Peru, Panama, Colombia, and South Korea Free Trade Agreement, makin him NYC's ONLY Congressmember to vote for every free trade agreement since 2005. Now, he's leading the TPP Caucus in Congress to push yet another job killing, anti-environmental trade deal on behalf of the 1%.

Tues, Dec 3 ^rd : International Day of Action Against Toxic Trade Agreements!
Join us for a NYC action as part of the  International Call to End the WTO and Stop the New Wave of Free Trade Agreements  on December 3rd, the first day of the World Trade Organization meetings in Bali, Indonesia. The WTO meeting will be followed by another round of Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) meetings by lead negotiators in Singapore. Negotiations for the Trans-Atlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP, also called TAFTA) are also underway. All of these trade agreements share the same fundamental principle that profits are more important than the health and needs of people and the planet. They are destroying local economies and public infrastructure in order to establish a global neo-liberal economic system that privatizes all goods and services. These agreements grant transnational corporations the power to change laws even down to the local level and challenge court decisions in their own tribunal that operates outside of sovereign judicial systems and cannot be challenged by domestic courts. This Is What Democracy Looks Like, a co-production of the IMC and Big Noise Films, weaves the footage of over 100 videographers into a gripping document of what really happened on Seattle's streets. The film cuts through the confusion and tear gas to paint an intimate, passionate portrait of a week that changed the world. This Is What Democracy Looks Like was the first documentary to capture the raw energy of the WTO protests, while clarifying their global and historic significance.
