This past friday marked the 50th anniversary of the Peace Symbol. It also marked the 50th aniversary of Easter Marches. The first one was in England. Two years later, a first easter march was held in Germany. The marches have become an institution. The largest gathering in Germany was in 1983. More than 700,000 persons marched for peace. It was a weekend to remember. I for one will never forget it. Two years prior, my active duty with the US Army came to an end. Easter 1983, I was amongst those calling for the US to remove the Pershing IIs and something they then called "Cruise". I guess you could say I "jumped fence". And ya know what? I'm glad I did.
Sorry for the interruption. I know there are more important things to discuss. Just look at all the headlines here. All very very important issues.
Aren't they? What about some reflection? And what about others? You know, the Peace Movement is a global thing but once it gets around the globe and it hits the US, it's smothered with more important issues. Such a shame.
Tell me the truth, you missed it. Didn't ya? Do ya even give a shit?
