Over $22,000 for two weeks of make-up? Sure, cosmetics are overpriced, but was Sarah Palin's make-up artist doing total-body botox for that charge? Or building silicone special effects on her cheek in the shape of a bloody backwards "-B'?
A few years ago, fortunately well before HDTV, I used to join the anchors on the evening news desk of a top-10 market #1 station for my reports. None of us had the luxury of make-up artists. We learned how to do our own make-up and jostle for space in front of the mirror for last-minute touch-ups before we went on the air. Cost: $100/month in today's devalued currency.
Our wardrobes came from our own salaries, too. Yes, we'd wear quality "Sunday suits"- from mid-range department stores like Macy's, but Neiman-Marcus could only make our list if they decided to open an outlet store. Cost: $1000/year in today's collapsing dollars.
Sarah Palin spent $150,000 for clothes? Who does she think she is, Tina Fey?
On the other hand, we shouldn't be too surprised. After all, this is the elite Republican party. Which expects a soldier to risk his or her life for a few stale MREs as a Blackwater mercenary is lavished with hundreds of thousands of dollars. So, I guess we have to assume that the make-up arrangement was a no-bid contract a la Halliburton, etc,"-.
