Would Oprah Winfrey's money have been better spent in Chicago on its schools rather than on a school in South Africa?
Urban legend or nasty rumor?: Did Oprah really ask Chicago schoolers what they need to improve their schools?
Alleged response: They wanted $100 shoes, I-Pods and cell phones.
I have no idea if that's ture, or if it's the reason she did not build a school in Chicago.
But if it is true, they need a good education more than ever. Somewhere, somehow someone has to teach them priorities to go along with reading, writing, math, science and literature.
