There were about 125,000,000 voters in the 2008 Presidential Election. 21.5% (or about 27,000,000) of them were Afro-American. Afro-Americans went for Obama by about 98%, as compared to about 90% who voted for Kerry in 2004 and Gore in 2000- a difference of 8%. But 8% of 27,000,000 is just 2,160,000 votes. Obama won the nation popular vote by more than 7,000,000 votes.
The difference in the 2008 Democratic candidate's for plurality of the poplular vote, as compared to his predecessors, actually accounted for less than a third of the margin he won by.
Ironically, our first at least half-black President didn't even need the additional Afro-Americans who ended up voting for him in 2008.
