I have to ask. Israel constantly, hypnotically repeats the mantra that Hamas is a terrorist organization that must be destroyed, that they are evil. What is Hamas's great crime? Rockets fired into Israel, and not so much suicide bombing, which was a PLO/Fatah thing. How many people have died from rockets in 10 years? Under twenty, I believe the count is at the moment. Yet Israel surpasses that number every day of their attack on Gaza, each weapon they use far more lethal than Hamas rockets. Furthermore, for the more sane of us at least, we realize that Gaza is brutally occupied and that Hamas actions are at least understandable, just as we can understand that the Nat Turner Rebellion in the old Slave South, while also brutal against white plantation owners, was also driven by oppression and humiliation.
The obsessiveness of the Israeli one-dimensional mantra against Hamas goes beyond the reality of what Hamas really is and what their motivations are. Anything you can say reasonable about Hamas is not allowed to enter the pro-war Israeli consciousness, even when Hamas states that they are prepared to live with the 1967 boundaries.
No, Israelis cling to their extremely vitriolic verbal attacks on Hamas with torrents of hatred and exaggeration to a point that I have seen many times before in people who are whacked out in society. When the negative attacks you are unleashing upon another human go well beyond any real description of that person, you are projecting. What are you projecting? Carl Jung explains it well that what one projects in these cases is one's Shadow, all those dark and unsettling desires one keeps locked in the psyche and are unwilling to reflect upon and resolve. It is like holding a mirror up to your soul when you study your projection. This goes a long way toward explaining why, for instance, those who obsess endlessly, like Bush or Dick Chenny, about evil terrorists, commit the most egregiously, inhuman acts themselves.
To be more analytical, when you call someone some sort of demon, you are projecting the demonic within you and, worse still, when you actually take the next step and go beyond verbal abuse into acting out your projection, then you are unleashing those negative forces within you while blaming them on your victim. While condemning another person as demonic, you act demonically against that person yourself, but simultaneously doing so self-righteously, so as to dodge the guilt. But you are still the one with demons in your head.
This is what I believe is going on in the collective Israeli psyche that supports all these horrendous crimes against Gaza that just keep mulitplying. I do not believe they can be stopped without strong intervention from the outside. Isreal is a government and military that is out of control and engaged in a massive pogrom. That is why it is incumbent upon the sane countries in this world, like France and Germany, to act vigorously to stop this. Acquiescence is just indulging the psychosis. But do not count on the United States to help in this matter, at least until Psychopaths Number One and Two, Dick Chenny and George Bush, are out of the way.
