After Glenn Beck, Lou Dobbs, CNN has opened up to William Bennett. It won't be long before viewers will not be able to distinguish between CNN and Fox News.
William Bennett, former secretary of education (1985-1988), Washington Fellow at conservative think tank Claremont Institute, caused a firestorm of controversy when he said that aborting "every black baby in this country" would bring down the crime rate. Source:
He also signed an open letter along with Richard Perle, Gary Bauer and editors of The New Republic and The Weekly Standard after 9/11, "threatening to brand the President a wimp-guilty of “surrender in the war on international terrorism"-should he buck their demand to make "a determined effort" to oust Saddam Hussein " even if evidence does not link Iraq directly to the attack". So why did a channel that claims to be "the most trusted name in news" hire William Bennett as a commentator?
If you haven't noticed, CNN is pandering to the conservative viewers for the sake of ratings, trying to duplicate ratings success of Bill O'Reilly. Lou Dobbs now gets to spew venom against immigrants, China and Mexico on primetime, Glenn Beck's show, which is religiously fueling fears against Iran and whatever "nuclear weapons programs" the country has going, is heavily promoted on CNN and Headline Prime. No wonder they would welcome a person who thinks that aborting black babies is going to bring down crime rate in America.
Today morning Bennett was on CNN commenting on Hillary’s debate debacle in Philly and he also pushing his book” America: The Last Best Hope".
As a long time CNN viewer, I am disappointed. If they bother to have good journalists presenting well researched, balanced news they wouldn't have to invite right wing nuts to get a boost.
