California Teachers' Fund Divests From Gun Companies
"One of the largest pension funds in the country has announced it is
divesting from all its holdings in firearms following last month's
shooting massacre in Newtown, Connecticut. The California State
Teachers' Retirement System voted unanimously Wednesday to unload its
roughly $12 million investments in three gun companies, including
Freedom Group, the manufacturer of the Bushmaster semi-automatic rifle
that was used in the killing of 20 young children and seven adults in
the Newtown rampage. Pension funds in a number of other states are
considering following suit."-DN
