Everyone of us should pray New Orleans doesn't get hit by another hurricane, because if it does, everyone of us will be effected.

::::::::

In a worst-case scenario a hit by Hurricane Gustav would very well bring on the Reign of the Cockroach.

New Orleans is in a very bad spot. Katrina wiped out nearly all of the wet-lands that served as a buffer from storm surges, what was once 50 miles is now 5, any direct hit will destroy New Orleans and make it uninhabitable forever.

The abysmal job the ACE has done and the lack of funding and foot-dragging from this Bush administration has left its levee system in worse shape than it was before Katrina. Even a cat 3 direct hit right now will turn New Orleans into a permanent part of the Gulf of Mexico. And Gustav is predicted to be at least a cat-3, if it's a cat-4 or 5, you can count on it.

If this should happen the repercussions will not just effect this nation, but will be felt world-wide.

Immediately this nation would be swamped with 500,000 domestic refugees. (of which I'll be one). The economic repercussions could very well be the catalyst that sends our economy into a deep depression. Bush would undoubtedly declare a State of Emergency, open-up the FEMA camps and pull out Directive 51 making him supreme dictator of the land. Elections could very well be suspended and to take our minds off his tyrannical reign and enslavement he could very well attack our imagined enemy de'jour and start another war. And we better pray it isn't with Russia because we'd be staring at complete nuclear annihilation.

Now granted this a worst-case scenario, but even if New Orleans is spared major damage, the effect on oil rigs and refineries will drive gas prices through the roof. Remember $6 gas after Katrina? This time that will become permanent.

None of this is good. All of us should pray this storm takes a turn and does the least amount of damage, because if it doesn't, this could be last four days of our lives that will resemble normal.
