The media has gone on a rampage whipping up xenophobia in the Fort Hood shooting. Recall when the white supremacists attacked the federal building in Oklahoma, I do not recall the constant scream of white racist terrorists across the media. In fact it was played down.We have plenty of soldiers returning from war who go on rampages killing people, but we hear little of that. Here's one story here: click here

Instead we hear the constant screaming rant against Muslims in general and against people who hate the war.
It is assumed that all Muslims would do something like what Hasan did, and of course the follow up to that is that "we should be in Afghanistan. This type of stereotyping is harmful as in the case of the Greek Orthodox priest who was beat up, because the Marine thought he was a terroristl

They further rant that he was violently against the war. This could be taken to mean that anyone who is against the war is a terrorist somehow. We should all be for the war, because this one man who was a Muslim and was against the war went on a rampage. Most liberals are against the war. I guess then that we could be categorized as terrorists as well.
The next rant is that "he bought guns for himself". Oh my gosh he bought some guns! The entire population of the US is heavily armed and has guns and weapons! Is every redneck with a gun some kind of terrorist?
While I am sorry for those killed in this rampage, and I pray for all of those harmed, I am also sorry for the hatred that the media is whipping up over this. It is deliberate.
I have heard individuals say, "All soldiers should be armed all the time."
Further, "All Muslim Imams should be shot on sight."
Further, "Muslims should not be in the armed services."
This is caused by the media, and by people generalizing.
