Do name labels really define a person or group?

::::::::

I find it interesting that many people will try to define a person or group with a name, even though the definition of the name does not fit it.

Take the term Communist for example, and many will reply that both China and the former USSR have/had this form of government. Yet, when one does a little research of how Communism is described by its author Karl Marx, you realize that neither of these country's has or has any form of government labeled as such ever lived by a Communist doctrine.

I was told by the author in a recent article comment I wrote that I was a twit, for not acknowledging the 40 million members of the CCP. Even though my comment only made a reference to having lived in China for the past 4.5 years and having not met any Communists in China thus far. I have met many people who are members of the CCP, though they do not follow the Communists doctrine as outlined by Marx. On the contrary, many are involved in the economic transformation China has been under-going since Deng Shou Ping proclaimed the capitalist's idea of making money is glorious over 30 years ago.

Another example closer to home is someone who calls themselves a republican and believes the GOP is a political party that wants smaller government and federal spending. Though the last 3 republican presidents of Bu$h Jr., Bu$h Sr., and Ronald Reagan have/had the largest government and bloated federal spending the USA has ever experienced. In fact there has not been any republican administration that has attempted to live by the less government and spending mantra.

The same goes for an individual who claims to be a right to life supporter who opposes a woman's right to choose. They hold the idea that every life is sacred and should be given its chance. Tough some in this group have had an abortion themselves, they feel compelled to deny this procedure to others.

So, how can a republican, clinic protester, condemn such murder of innocent life at home, yet support the immoral War Of Terror being wrought both domestic and abroad that has killed so many at an expense that has billions in unaccounted expenditures?

What I find the most bemusing is the boastful environmental individual who pontificates a green agenda, who has spent a small fortune in converting, yet doesn't realize the waste generated a carbon footprint bigger to do so.

I sometimes wonder if people fully understand the labels they define themselves with and others they caricature?

Stanimal is ??? I hear cries for freedom elsewhere, while the US becomes less so. I hear support for free markets, then demanding a bailout due to incompetence. I roll my eyes at those that accuse others being oppressed while the US has and (more...)
