Life defined according to a Native American Elder who taught me.

::::::::

I had a conversation with a friend a while back. I encountered the same situation that led to that conversation in the last few days.
He. "What do you think is the greatest problem people face today?"

Me: That depends on the person and the problems they face. First most people are so busy making a living that they forget how to live. Second most people don masks to keep the world from knowing who and what they are. Third many seem to loose their sense of purpose, of drive and of intention. They forget that they came here to do something, not just participate but really do something.

He: "Thats good but how do you deal with the world when your up to your ass in alligators?"

Me: If making a living was and is so important, then why are thousands of people wishing they were employed elsewhere, whishing they could be doing something meaningful. If you have to cut back on whatever it is your doing to make a living and look at your life. If you really are so busy making a living that you have no time for yourself, your family or anything else, then you are not living you are existing.

He: "What about this mask thing?"

Me: Grandmother and most Native American Elders had a quick answer for that question, I have added to it some but it still applies. Askyourself three or five questions. Take the tim e up to a month for each one to really answer these questions to your own satisfaction. One; Who are you? Not your job, not your name, not your postiton or family but who is the person filling all of these functions? Second, Where are you from? Not where you were born or anything like that. Rather, who has contributed to you and your outlook on life? Third, Why are you here? Not just the physical location you occupy, but the reason for your being alive. Two other questions you need to ask yourself are What can I do to unstick my life and last but not least. What are you doing about the answers to the first four questions?

He: "But what about this participation thing?"

Me: You also have the duty as you answer the questions for yourself to help others find and walk the path of life themself. We are not islands nor living in a blank. We are communities and as such need to interact with and receive help from others and give help to others. We are here more then anything else to learn that we need every single other member of humainity and they need us. Remeber it, but enjoy it as you go along your path. Remeber life when we were children was fun, it's supposed to be all through life. Enjoy yourself but take responsibility too.
