What it all means and what I think we'll be seeing in the next 8 to 12 weeks:Leaving aside the claimed pretense of two captured Israeli soldiers as the cause of Israel's total destruction of Lebanon and occupation of South Lebanon because it is not the cause of Israel's act, it finally struck me tonight what really was.
I long ago predicted that the Bush administration was willing to start World War III and engage in a scorched earth policy before they'd allow themselves to be stopped by any court, and of course recent threats made by Bush against Iran for absolutely nothing, are in line with that notion. But how does Israel and their stated intent to totally destroy Hezbollah actually fit into this?
If one looks at what is being called the Shiite Crescent from Iran, through Iraq, through Syria and into Lebanon right up to the Israeli border, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand that what the neocons have really done, was first and foremost foreseeable, and secondly, probably the boldest pretense to all out regional war ever effected while fooling most of the people some of the time. Bush' Iraq policy wasn't a screw up from their perspective, but rather, a plan which could be covered by their age old utilization of "plausible deniability". Hell, if I wanted to reshape the entire geo-political spheres of influence overnight through some kind of feigned "blunder", I'd probably have thought Bush the perfect idiot to front such a crime; the total stupidity IS plausible. But that's not what this is.
What do we know right now? We know that they knew that removing Saddam, would create a Shia government in Iraq. We know that they knew the Sunni would violently resist this if allowed to. We know they left Saddam's Republican guard and Generals to take their weapons and melt into the cities after the initial invasion. We know they have 16 major military bases planned which will be permanent bases from which to operate in their "new middle east". We know that such a permanent state of occupation required a reason, and that reason was enabled by their leaving the Baathists armed.
Enter Israel's total decimation of south Lebanon. We know it's been planned for more than a year. Why?
This is not isolated from Bush military strategy, it's a formal part of it. Oh I know they deny it, but let's deal in reality which long ago showed them to be history's biggest and most frequent liars.
Israel has Egypt to it's South; Sunni. It has Jordan to it's right; Sunni. And it has Lebanon to it's north; Shitte.
Question: IF George W. Bush were intent on waging an all out air assault on Iran and Syria, and the Israelis knew it, would they create this so-called "buffer" zone ahead of time by destroying the military capacity of South Lebanon to attack them? Rhetorical; of course they would.
So we arrive at the actual reason for Israel's act: They know that what Bush intends to do, would IMMEDIATELY result in an all out invasion and defeat of Israel by Lebanon the moment he begins. Israel then, is "softening up" the enemy prior to the beginning of the all out regional war Bush intends to launch.
The whole "democratizing" of Lebanon was nothing but a ruse from the beginning to reduce the number of Syrian backed militias in Lebanon prior to all out war. I have to hand it to them, although completely insane it is brilliant in it's inherent capacity to divert while accomplishing strategic pre-war objectives.
So there you have it; Israel's actions are on account of complicity with what shortly will come from Bush. It will come before the elections, and the neo-cons have successfully -again- chosen the subject, and brutally divided their political opponents constituencies into Zionist sympathizers, and the anti-war movement.
When you really realize what the conditions are at this moment, you'll realize that we who would have prevented them, are going to fail. They have indeed acted to "create reality" and they've made certain it's a reality which confuses and divides their opponents, enabling them to act again. The so-called "left wing blogosphere" is stunningly devoid of debate over Israel's destruction of Lebanon. Daily Kos has formally requested that those who post diaries on the subject be rated out of visibility, believing the Democrats can "win" an up coming mid-term election on domestic issues as the world tilts toward Armageddon at the hand of a mad-man. They are now playing the game by neo-con rules whether they know it or not, as is every other so-called "opposition group" who cowers in fear of debating the big Z (Zionism). The die for global war is cast and no one will stop it now, least of all the Democrats.
