What in the Hell has Happened to Morality and Values?? 07/16/08
O.K., here's the deal. I am opposed to drilling or exploration anywhere considered previously to be safe from potential ruin. I know nothing about the oil business, but I do seem to recall that Vice President Dick, "take-no prisoners" Cheney relied upon these same gentlemen to create our existing energy policy. Under guidance from these guys I am paying $4 plus, for gasoline. I have my home thermostat set at eighty degrees and fear my bill this month will be $$00 plus. The hot part of the summer isn't even here yet!! So my thinking is that if Bush, friend to oilmen everywhere, and Big Oil are for it, I am agin it!!
I am really against the President, or his appointed representative, having the power to hold citizens and non-citizens without charges for any length of time such President desires. This smacks of dictatorship, and I really don't want to live under one of those. How would these power-hungry cowards feel if the shoe were on the other foot. Remember, we will probably have a Democrat serving in the White House after January, 2009.
My Mommy never told me "water boarding" was bad. I think she would have if she could conceive such an act being performed by one human upon another. I do know she was against torture, as I believe most people are. She always said that when faced with a moral dilemma that, "I would know right from wrong, and act accordingly" I don't believe CS Dick Cheney's Mother ever conveyed morality to her little boy. I believe President Bush's parents just told him to hang with the smarter guys and emulate them. This would include roughly 99 per cent of the population. One hundred per cent if you exclude six year olds and down.
This President has seized powers from a do-nothing Congress that far exceed the wishes of our Forefathers. I will vote for Jefferson, Washington, Adams, et al, as having a better perception of right from wrong.
This do-nothing Congress, with only a couple of exceptions need to be fired in November. It really is time for new blood with old ideals. Vote all incumbents out and you will have my erstwhile support. wilhite@jerrypippin.com
