With the presidential campaign heading into the last 17 days the campaigns are hitting the topics more and more. Obama is touting what he will do in the areas of healthcare, the economy, taxes, and education and McCain is keeping us in fear, this time about Obama and his terrorist associations and how corrupted the upcoming vote is going to be due to “voter fraud.” Actually, both of the candidates are blowing smoke. Obama because of the overall condition the Bush/Cheney regime has left our nation in, and McCain because his allegations are simply false as the Ayers thing leads one to feel Ayers himself should sue McCain for character assassination. Granted he was the leader of the group that did those terrorist acts some 40 years ago, but he was never convicted of any crime (much like McCain with his association with the Keating Five, or his association with Gordon Liddy who was convicted of traitorous crimes) and has been an educator and acknowledged as a outstanding citizen in the community. The “voter fraud” hype is totally off base as none of the phony individual registrations obtained by ACORN has, or ever will, vote. The fraud will take place when the corporate software counts the votes. The felony will take place when the Rovian thugs prevent qualified registrants from voting.
What this campaign should really be about is the future of our country. Neither candidate is addressing the restoration of our Constitution, civil rights, bringing our citizens back together in order to agree on the common goals needed to make us strong again – not simply militarily, but emotionally, intellectually, and compassionately. We have strayed drastically from the nation who led the world in science, industry, and ingenuity, no longer have a steady head in dealing with matters than confront us, and we no longer care about other people unless they have the same thoughts or physical traits as our own. We need a leader that will take on the task of bringing all people together working toward common goals. We need all 50 states being a part of one nation, not divided by some color bestowed upon them by the corporate media propagandists. We need a communication system that doesn't manufacture the “news”, but reports it.
We must once again become the United States of America!
