Yes, he was tortured, and killed by the 'Jews'...but at least they were consistent. They made themselves quite clear from the beginning. It doesn't take any special powers to know that the course of Jesus' life was predictable, and nothing at all has changed in those 2000 years. If Jesus were to come back to us today, the exact same thing would happen.
The 'Fundamentalist Christians' are just about as 'anti-Christ' as you can get, right? Except, the Jews back then never betrayed Jesus. They made their intentions very clear from the start. They were not twisted and fake like the 'Fundamentalists' , and 'Bush'...they weren't liars. They did not deceive themselves either.
I have no doubt that what hurt Jesus more than anything is the fact, that those people who genuinely believed in him, and had followed him...namely his Disciples...were the ones who betrayed him. (as is the case with 'the good ' people of today, and the Democrats, in our present circumstances in America) They don't really mean to, and they have good intentions, and yet, they hurt a lot more than the torturers in the end. They are the 'bad guy's' biggest enablers. They are afraid, and with good reason. And because they 'are good', and because they care, they feel horrible and guilty about their own betrayal. This, in turn, makes them aggressive, and abusive towards the victims. They cannot deal with either the internal or external conflict. The 'bad guys', on the other hand..they don't have a conflict. They do not suffer. They are calm and composed, and therefore inspire trust, authority and respect.
