You may wish to change that.

::::::::

Google has this great new feature. Many of you know this already. Some will like it while others may find it to be very disturbing ;

Use Google if you want to look up a phonebook listing for someone who lives in the United States. Just enter a person’s name and a city, state, or zip code in the standard web search box. Then hit the ENTER key or click the Google Search button.

If you have easy access to the web, Google’s phonebook feature can be more convenient than your local phonebook and more extensive too.

I use Google Maps to do my job a bit better than usual. It's helpful in many cases. But when I saw this feature I could only think of Orwell again. Type in a phone number and if Google lists it, click on the Map link and Google will show you where that person resides.

Check whether Google knows your phone number and address. If you wish to remove your listing from Google’s PhoneBook, complete the name removal form, which you can find at www.google.com/help/pbremoval.html or by searching for [ remove phone number Google ].

Cell Phone numbers are not indexed, they say. Nor are unlisted numbers. And if you're looking for someone, you might want to try this site. Doesn't that make you feel much safer? There's nothing like a good dose of reality, early in the morning. And never forget what Big Brother keeps telling the Troops : "Practice good OpSec".
