Every twenty years the US goes to war. This is not a recent phenomenon. Ever since this country was founded, we have been at war every twenty years. My question is why?Now many will point out that some of the wars were necessary. They were good wars. After all war is what binds this country together. Where would we be without "fighting for freedom"? My question is are the wars really that good and really that necessary?
Someone on here pointed out that Canada never had a revolutionary war and they did just fine. Was the revolutionary war necessary? Was the war of 1812 necessary? How about the Mexican-American war? That one appears to have been simply a land grab. We never question the Civil War. Did that even have to happen?
What about the Spanish American war? A land grab. The first great war? Two kings get mad and millions of people are killed. Seems like a needless waste of life. We've been told that World war II was a great war. Fifty million people died because of Germany's land grabs. Russia made some land grabs in the fifties. No one attacked Russia. Russia exterminated millions of its own inhabitants. I did not see a righteous invasion over it.
The next wars were a total waste in my book. The point is why do we go to war so much, and how can we stop our warlike behavior.
