Who could really care what Dick Cheney thinks about anything?

::::::::

 Why anyone would give a damn about what Dick Cheney thinks is beyond my understanding. He seems to be on a one man campaign to either re-write the history of a failed Bush Administration, or perhaps is scared of going to jail. But, there he is, receiving national attention at the American Enterprise Institute, as he pontificates on how well torture worked in keeping the country safe. The AEI is the same group that gave us PNAC and the warped theory that the U.S. had the right and duty to go into any country it felt was necessary to further U.S. interest; said interest being determined by people like Cheney and Wolfowitz. It is no secret that the GOP is, and has been in free fall. On one hand you have a Mitch McConnell and on the other, a dope addicted radio talk show host, and a chairman that does not know what he stands for. If one decided to destroy the GOP, they could not have done or designed a better program for destruction than the path that the Party has followed.

I am not a Democrat, nor have I ever been nor a Republican for the simple reason it is my belief that the country is better served with two parties------even better with a third. I did support and vote for President Obama and would so again. Has he done everything like I had hoped? No, but did I expect that he would-----no. It is sort of like, “Cheney shoots his hunting partner, but Dems shoot themselves in the foot”. The idea that Cheney, along with some Democrats, and Republicans would try and make us afraid that we could not contain prisoners from Guantanamo, is absolutely absurd. It is just another ploy that would make us afraid, which is a method of control. I might be a bit troubled about being in certain parts of Miami, Chicago, New York, or Houston, but the idea of being afraid of a prisoner being in a high security prison near me is not threatening at all.

I had hoped after the disaster of Bush and company and the election of Obama, that the Republicans would “find themselves” and present some ideas that were timely and relevant. It is my belief that this is in the best interest of the country. Unfortunately, they have instead taken a path that James Carville says gives the Democrats 40 years of control. In my opinion, that is not good for the country but is very possibly true.

 It would seem that the country continues to be divided on several issues. Taxes and abortion. There are people that feel any increase in taxes is a bad thing and in fact, reduction in taxes is best. No matter that social security and Medicare is headed for the cellar, our roads, schools, highways, and infrastructure is in shambles and yet-----“read our lips, no new taxes”. There philosophy seems to be, “I have mine figure out how to get yours”. Abortion is and continues to be the most divisive issue in the country, and Republicans have played that issue to the hilt. I lost contact with my oldest friend, a fine man, good Catholic, respected retired college professor, because I supported Obama. The GOP has played this card for all it is worth and it continues to work, and very good people continue to support this position. I support the President for the simple reason that compared to Bush, he is an intellectual giant; compared to Cheney he is equal to Gandhi; compared to the rest, it is my belief he is the best choice.
