Catching up: I've had several conversations with Cheryl Honey from CommunityWeaving.org and she's been very helpful by both networking me with other people and testing video chat services.Coming up: More new Manifest Positivity collaborators and an online mind map of this project. I've never done a mind map before so I'd welcome tips from anyone with experience.
Catching up: Last week I attended a workshop on social networking conducted by Bob Morse of Morse Media. Yesterday morning we met in his office. Manifest Positivity is already using most of the tools he recommends (but obviously not his strongest suggestion: Drupal). Bob offered some good advice about implementation and also website design. I discussed these ideas with Morgan Corviday yesterday afternoon because...
Coming up: A logo and new website design for Manifest Positivity.
Catching up: On Saturday I went to the Incopah meeting. I did not participate in the demonstration of Emotional Freedom Technique, though those who did all reported positive results to one extent or another. Thanks to Ernie Behm for lending me the key to the Eureka Labor Temple for this meeting. When I returned the key to Ernie yesterday, we discussed...
Coming up: Some of the local unions have some projects with the library I may get to film. And Ernie is going to seek volunteers to help put up the structures needed for Incopah to launch the adventure therapy retreat for veterans with PTSD.
Catching up: Yesterday I also had tea with Suzanne Simpson and Ann Anderson, two of the six authors of "Locally Delicious." They are working on a variety of healthy food projects in Arcata, CA including a lawns to gardens program, arranging for local farmers to grow food specifically for local food banks, and a healthier food in schools campaign. They also introduced me to Eddie Tanner when he stopped by.
Coming up: Next week I'll be filming at least two videos with the ladies, including one about the choice I'm considering between a limited garden of my own, a lawn to garden deal, a community garden plot, or buying a CSA share. Eddie runs the DeepSeeded Community Farm and I'll be connecting more with him about that too.
Catching up: In early January I visited Steve Robinson in Somes Bar, CA and posted this video about the eco-groovy blue jean insulation we installed to keep his log cabin warmer. We also mentioned our intention for my next visit...
Coming up: In about an hour I'm meeting two people at the bus station who have been traveling for days, I think from Colorado. They're staying with me tonight and then I'll take them to Steve's tomorrow where they'll be wwoofing - helping prepare the 2000 square foot organic garden for the season in exchange for room and board. This is my long awaited opportunity to make a video about this, plus as promised previously, a look at Steve's hydro and solar power systems. I'll be back Saturday for the free STD workshop with Mira Friedman presented by Good Relations and The Eureka Munch. That's
from 1:30-3pm at Redwood Raks (824 L St, Arcata, the old Creamery Building).
There is no cell phone reception in Somes Bar but I will have internet, including Skype, which I'm starting to use more. If anybody wants to call me on there, I'm manifest_positivity.
