The ugly, unspoken words nobody seems to be talking about in connection with Craig's attempted public bathroom sexual tryst is this: what if a child, rather than a police officer, was occupying the neighboring stall? That's no way for society to raise, or initiate, children no matter how they may be oriented....What's more, if society were really rational, and parents were truly loving and nurturing, they would explain not only that public sex, because of its potentially harmful psychological ramifications, is wrong, but that it is OK to be homosexual; unfortunately, the Craig incident is simply being made into another punching bag for the Republican Party....that sort of attitude is juvenile and adolescent; being gay or lesbian, or heterosexual, for that matter, is not the problem here; what is problematic is the type of closeted behavior, exhibited by Craig and others of his ilk, that is potentially deleterious to public decency...But the very policies, like comprehensive, social scientific human sexuality education, that may assist researchers in describing this type of behavior, and correcting it (anti-social behaviors), is scorned by the very people who amateurishly and childishly dismiss sexuality education and protest any advances---whether in learning, gay rights, or acceptance, that gays and lesbians advocate.....

District removes video depicting same-sex couples from curriculum
8/30/2007, 10:42 p.m. ET
The Associated Press

EVESHAM, N.J. (AP) — A video depicting same-sex parents will not be used as part of the third-grade curriculum this school year in this Burlington County community.

The documentary titled "That's a Family" was included in last year's health curriculum to meet a state requirement on teaching diversity issues, but was pulled after some parents objected. School officials then formed a committee made up of parents, teachers and administrators to decide whether to use the video in future classes.

That panel recommended that the video be moved to the fourth-grade curriculum, but school board members rejected that proposal Thursday night and determined that the video would not be used this year.

The video, produced by a San Francisco-based nonprofit organization called Women's Educational Media, shows children discussing the different types of families they come from, including homes led by single parents, adoptive parents and same-sex couples.

The documentary was only shown once at an elementary school before it raised concerns among many parents.

Opponents claimed the film violated their religious beliefs and that the students were too young to see this type of material, while supporters of the video said it helps children learn tolerance and respect for others.
