As Steve Young points out in his article titled Underestimate Palin At Your Own Peril, "people should not underestimate the Republican VP choice".
And as Walter Shapiro pointed out to us in 2004, Underestimating intelligence isn't very smart .
Eisenhower grew up in Kansas. I visited the house he grew up in in Abilene when I was a kid. It was all pretty simple. The man was simple. But behind that simple man there was a complex thinker and he knew how to manipulate his opponents into underestimating him. I kind of think he made an art out of it.
From what I've seen of Joe Biden, he's a simple man too but he does tend to show a bit of arrogance every now and again. If he's smart and if he plays it right, he just might have a chance of walking away from the debate as a winner. One wrong move, smirk or remark and it's over. That's how simple and cruel America is. Smart guys can and sometimes do finish last.
Matter of factly, methinks a lot of readers and writers on OEN are underestimating their fellow Americans. Americans like simple people, simple solutions and simple minds. Palin is one of them, that there majority over there. You can ignore them but they won't go away.
