Call me cynical, but...

::::::::

Oh, sure. Ugly up one of America's icon bridges.

So-called mental health "experts" are usually only expert at shooting off their mouths.

Anyone hell-bent on offing himself by jumping off one of the world's most famous bridges and making a big splash in the headlines, will figure out a way to do it, with or without safety nets.

They'll complete that long climb to make that 245-foot, four second plunge into the icy, shark-infested waters of San Francisco Bay armed with wire cutters strapped to their backs.

What's next? Rigging every freeway overpass with suicide-proof barriers? People like to jump off them, too.

Even if the Golden Gate is a suicide magnet, this is more idiotic, costly, feel-good nonsense by a bunch of short-sighted do-gooders who won't prevent one suicide. People who are determined to kill themselves cannot be stopped.

If we take away one means for them to escape the world, they’ll find another way out.
