The letter from Dobson from Focus on the Family, Letter From 2012 in Obama’s America, is scary because many Christians already believed they were damned if they didn't vote for McCain. I believe the contrary and I am a Christian. I have seen the backward take on The Bible. The Christian fundamentalists are focusing on the Old Testament not the New and that is dangerous. They are looking right over the Gospel of Christ and making their own rules. That is not following God that is worshiping a fallacy. They have made their own quasi government focused religion, kind of like governity or christianment.
Furthermore, to scare unwitting Christians into the total breakdown of the freedom to practice under a certain president is disgraceful. Five years ago I could still afford the trip to church and the tithe. I didn't feel so alienated from my church, because of my political belief. I feel that if I am not a republican my church doesn't want me. I asked my church on their internet chat who they were supporting for president some weeks ago. I wrote also that I did not agree with Bush running his campaign through the church, before I received my answer. Just as I suspected, I was told that my church was supporting a McCain/Palin ticket.
I get so angry with my fellow Christians. Why are you buying into this fear mongering? I am not calling Obama Jesus, but that is in fact what led to his crucifixion. Fear! Fear! Unfounded and disbelieved by the people who knew him well. Why do Christians not get it?
We can't bring one more to Jesus if we are bombing them off the map. We can't witness to them if they are dead. Over 1,000,000 people have died in Iraq and I don't believe there are any Christians over there making sure they are saved before we, we kill them. I am so sick of this. I am so sick of hearing the Christians damning me to hell, including Sarah Palin, for not supporting the republicans.
I hope that more Christians out there feel the way I do. I hope it isn't only people of different faiths or none at all that are appalled. I hope I am not the only Christian outraged by the ostracism I have been through because of my own belief which seems to counter my church, now and for past elections as well.
Do you think God is very happy that Falwell, Robertson and others have worked very hard to chase me from the church, not to it, because they wanted only Christian "belief" not faith to run the country? They don't focus on praying seriously for our country and leaders and following the teachings of Christ, they just want to spare themselves and take over.
I look at a bigger picture. I read the Gospel. I know that this is not what Jesus wanted. The way you show you’re Christian is not by scaring others to see it your way. Christians wake up! You are being sorely lied to and your intelligence is being stolen for a narrow sighted cause. They know all they have to do is tell you, more or less, that God will abandon you and you will follow their lead.
These men are not God. They aren’t even prophetic. Look up the predictions that Robertson has already made. He was wrong on many accounts. Please Christians, take your brains back. 2 Timothy 1:7 God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. He gave it to you to use it and make your own decisions. Do not blindly believe, because a man tells you that what they say is God’s will, they are sincere. Man does many things for the glory of himself.
They do not want power to give us the freedom to make our own decisions and come to God for our advice. They want to micromanage us according to their own take on The Bible and make sure we have no way to obey or disobey God, because it will all be a matter of government law. Think about it. Do they represent the Gospel? Do the republicans today align themselves with the teachings of Jesus? If you think long and hard enough and do not just blindly follow man, you will see the absurdity of what we are buying.
I hope it is not too late for Christians to become Christians again and realize we are ALL children of God. God loves Barack Obama just as much as he loves you. God loves the Iraq people, just as much as he loves you. God loves the rich and the poor, the black and the white. He created it all, he loves it all and we are destroying it, along with each other.
