OEN policy?

::::::::

My comment was flagged. I called Christopher Hitchens a shill and a bastard and I was flagged. Last time I was flagged in the Y2005... The letter from an editor even said that I could jeopardize my membership because of the personal attacks.

It was always my understanding that I could not insult the authors of the articles, diaries and posts, the fellow OEN-ers but it was perfectly OK to say anything about public figures. In fact, I recently called Joe Scarborugh a Moronic Joe and got away with it. The article in question referred to the article by Chris Hitchens and Hitchens is a pundit- he does it for money. I thus retain a right to call him whatever I want.

Please, tell me that I understand the policy correctly and I still can call Bush a madman, Palin- a Fuhrer in a skirt and Cheney- a vampire. If that is a personal attack and OEN policy prohibits me from doing that- I might consider to 'jeopardize' my membership despite 6 years of it-it would not worth it.

Mark Sashine

PS. I just got a message from the editor who flagged my comment with some strange statement that ' It is not a litigation. You cannot argue your case.' Despite his obvious rudeness and arrogance I do not reveal his name but I have to state that it does seem that some people on OEN
become drunk with power. It also seems to me that I made a mistake when I decided not to engage in editoriaal activities because clearly the void was filled by ... unfortunate personalities, sorry.

I hereby want to state unequivocally that there is only one proper interpretation of the OEN policy in my opinion- that is the actual OEN member cannot be insulted as an author but public figures and pundits who write in MSM for living can be called whatever I want. Since Y2004 my perceptions seem to work just fine on OEN and I hope for the same now.

A writer is a rogue goose. All other gees fly in a flock formation; every goose knows his place and time for honking. The rogue goose is undisciplined. He leaves the formation indiscriminately to have a look at it from aside. He roams back and (more...)
