This is a people powered site. Regular people write the articles and regular people financially support the site. This month, contributions are massively down. MASSIVELY!! We should be at around $2700 now. We're under $850. (about $450 came in yesterday. We can do this if just 100 people contribute an average of $32 each, which means some give $5 and some give $100 or $250)
Being short so much, so late in the month is a recipe for disaster. last month we fell short by $1100. This month, we need to at least meet our $4000 budget. We'd like to recoup what we came up short last month.
Can you help? Even $5.00 contributions add up to make a difference.
Of course, if you can't afford to give anything, we still value your readership, but if you care about the site, if you value our work, and can afford even $5, please take the three minutes it takes to make a donation.
Please, do not assume someone else will do it. That's what's been happening this month, so far.
About OEN's New Server
Friday night we're going to switch to the new server. It'll cost more but it should be a lot, lot faster, not necessarily for article page loads, but for admin accessing and submitting content-- articles, comments, polls, etc.
The new dedicated private server has ten times the throughput speed, four times the ram, is moving from 32 to 64 bit processing, and a RAID 5 system with three mirroring hard drives that is supposed to help make accessing the site faster.
We expect the site will have to be down for 3-7 hours friday night.
I'll announce the exact time range on Friday.
thanks,

Then, when he found the process of raising people's consciousness and empowering them to take more control of their lives one person at a time was too slow, he founded Opednews.com-- which has been the top search result on Google for the terms liberal news and progressive opinion for several years. Rob began his Bottom-up Radio show, broadcast on WNJC 1360 AM to Metro Philly, also available on iTunes, covering the transition of our culture, business and world from predominantly Top-down (hierarchical, centralized, authoritarian, patriarchal, big) to bottom-up (egalitarian, local, interdependent, grassroots, archetypal feminine and small.)
