Would our society as a whole not benefit from an across-the-board reduction in the number of hours considered to be a full work week?

Guess what is missing from the picture with all this downsizing and laying off and bailing out.  A reduction in the amount of work that we are required to produce for our master.  It's time to revolt and assert the 4 day work week.
