After so much time in the Opednews, articles and diaries and comments( more than 2000!) I have earned a right to ask a question.

::::::::

And the question is: Do  you care about being human?

This is not  only the question to the Opednews people per se. It is the question to all people in this country.

I am an engineer.  I design powerful machines, flying and moving, have  high credentials and PE licence.  And if  something  goes wrong in the way  they are  being designed I  feel pain because it is human to  worry about a good job.  I feel pain when I see negligence, stupidity and malice. I feel pain when I see shallowness. That's how I was brought up.  But the primary message I have been conferred to   through generations of my ancestry was to feel pain and rage at the loss of life. And now, after 5 years of the Iraqi abomination the TV toothy monster  tells me that when we discuss Iraqi war we talk  about...money.  Is that really so? Do you care or do you not?

I wanted to write an article about it, about death all around us, the stench of death so  powerful that  it covers the whole atmosphere like a volcanic ashes. But, oh, Hell if I write that some Tom Murphy would  maybe comment about ' unnecessary metaphore.' Unnecessary, my ass.  Ok, one, only one  case. A day before  the invasion the MTV broadcasted a report about a teenage boy in Baghdad playing Napster. Nice, lively, artistic boy. That could be my son! That c could be your son! Where is he now? MTV never tracked him. If he is dead, injured or  his family is dead or his friends- we are murderers just because of that and there is a plenty  of place in Hell for all of us including me and Bush and the toothy/leggy monster on TV. No forgiveness; we are all in it. I ask again, do you care? Why  on this anniversary we  at least here do not openly state that  the  invasion of  Afgahnistan (YES, this one too) and Iraq was and is an act of murder? Why is that we whisper something, murmur something and sqeal like some puppies, we, adult human beings? Or maybe we are not human anymore, just some  little creatures with puny opinions?

No money in the world will return Casey Sheehan to life. No money in the world will return to life the grandchild of Saddam Hussein.  No money in the world will  cure us from inhumanity if we ourselves do not look in the mirror on this fateful day and ask ourselves, one -by- one, 'Do I care?'

You know, folks it was  the time when I was young, arrogant and stupid. I then in order to impress  my girlfriend bragged that the neutron bomb (where is it, BTW?) which killed only humans but retained all the buildings and materiel intact was a reasonable, effective (!) weapon on the battlefield. I  sounded tough to myself, a real man, so to speak. And I scored.   What a bastard I was!  What an idiot! Since that time I went through many things;  I was a refugee, a vagrant, people committed suicide on my watch. So, on this day I state that if only I could I would have taken a bullet for that boy in Baghdad and for that boy in Gaza and for that boy on the street around the corner, not so very far from my suburbian home. If only I could. I care.  Do you? And if you do, I encourage you  right at that nice, family dinner to spit at  TV and switch off the toothy/leggy abomination. Do at least that. For your own sake and for the sake of your children. Please.

A writer is a rogue goose. All other gees fly in a flock formation; every goose knows his place and time for honking. The rogue goose is undisciplined. He leaves the formation indiscriminately to have a look at it from aside. He roams back and (more...)
