In the Y2006 it was obvious that Dems would easily win the Y2008 Presidential elections if they had a reasonably viable candidate, that is not a Catholic or a Mormon or a Jew, not a woman and not a black person, also not Gravel or Kucinich (I do not mean names here, just the spirit). It was obvious because not only Bush had betrayed the principles of GOP but also due to a simple fact that GOP had no viable candidates at all: their only hope McCain was and is a half-matured child. Thus the Dems just had to pick up some doll. I would say even a dog could win Presidency on the Dem side. And they also did have more than that- they had Edwards.
But the deal was that the Dems were to lose. And that is why the media machine turned its guns on Edwards ( Richardson, Kucinich and Gravel were easy prey) and used any possible means to discredit him. Moreover, the same machine loved Hillary and Obama more and more: they did everything to create for those two the image of electability although, again, even a dog would understand that none of those two had a chance against McCane. On the GOP side the media smugly avoided the Catholicism of Guiliani but let him to collect as much as possible votes to deliver to John McC. Huckabee and Romney will be good patriots at the Convention, sure. Ron Paul, the only one who fought for something had no chance against the big guns. Now it is neither those who vote nor those who count decide the outcome of the elections. Those decide who make candidates.
OOps, the media celebrates the Edwards's demise. Boom, Hillary and Obama are the two left. It is time to turn the big guns from attack to support. Be prepared for a lot of positive flood on both sides. This election will be the most peaceful of all. Both sides will praise each other. In his triumphant speech the new President McCain will thank his great opponent Hillary Clinton for her perseverance and promise to work together. That would be true- they both are together in it. The media will roar the Halleluiah and in that roar no one would hear the toll of the death bell for us, for our kids, for the world.
