As the Democrats are now coalescing around the Obama camp, discussing VP candidates and mending fences with Clintonians, it is important that we take care not to overlook the activities of the Cheney administration and their apologists in the supposedly Democratic Congress, ignoring the all-too-obvious signs that neo-conservatives (and their neo-liberal counterparts I might add) are scrambling to make sure that the military conflicts raging in Central Asia and the Middle East continue unhindered by the next administration and under the close supervision of war profiteers and predatory global financiers and institutions, who could undermine the next president in the region as they are the ones who directly manage and oversee the perpetuation of conflict.

::::::::

The Cheney administration (let's not mince words here) has made it clear that it intends to bring U.S. military forces stationed in the region to the very brink of conflict with Iran, and recent deployments have confirmed these intentions.

Stratfor, a private intelligence gathering group, along with numerous Naval and Air Force logistician communities and forums all over the web<a href="click here href="http://www.yankeesailor.us/">(2)</a>, have confirmed that global military deployments are pointing toward Israeli-launched tactical strikes which will then rely primarily on the U.S. Navy for reinforcement should Iran attempt to retaliate, with a probable conflict occurring sometime in the fall, once the carrier groups are in optimal position.

The latest move by the Cheney Administration to force Iraq into a contractual imperial relationship with U.S. forces clearly demonstrates that the administration is testing Iraqi, Iranian, and domestic U.S. resistance to the idea of a prolonged and significant U.S. military presence in the region, and is trying to force the neo-conservative agenda around, over, or through, both the Iraqi and U.S. legislatures in order to secure the financial aims of Cheney Co. and other like-minded corporate imperialists long after they have lost their current positions within the government.

The situation of Israeli PM Ehud Olmert also must be considered, as he is in dire need of political capital in the wake of increasingly serious corruption charges being brought against him and faces open attacks in Israel's Knesset by Defense Minister Ehud Barack and members of his own party, possibly because he has failed to speed along Israeli military preparations for a strike against Iran, which were bolstered by the substantial U.S. Naval presence in the region in May.

A few weeks ago, immediately after the Knesset had announced legislation aimed directly at corruption investigations regarding government officials, thus making it easier to oust Olmert from power, he upped the rhetoric and stated that diplomatic negotiations with Iran were clearly exhausted. Days later it was leaked that Israel was negotiating with Syria vis a vis Turkey, which tells us that Israel is attempting to isolate Syria from Tehran and understands that the Syrian government and Turkish Forces will need to partner and coordinate with Israeli intelligence to counter Hezbollah and other Iranian sponsored groups should an attack on Iran take place. Israel's willingness to meet with the Syrians, to alienate them from Iran, is a telling sign.

The troops are clearly moving into place, the administration is concerned solely with corporate profits wrought from war and the exploitation of energy resources, the Israeli PM is in need of a political rescue and has made it clear that bold, unilateral Israeli strikes, such as the one to take out an alleged nuclear site in Syria, are not unfathomable. Israeli Ministers are scrambling to out-hawk one another.

With world Naval and military forces flocking to the region to confront the increasingly serious situation with piracy and lawlessness in East Africa, it is clear that there are going to be a lot of guns, a lot of boats, a lot of soldiers, and a lot of tension in the region, and that for the first time in almost 70 years, the entire world seems to be tied up in a large economic, strategic, and ideological struggle, with a potential battlefield spanning from Eastern Africa through the Middle East to Pakistan in the East.

There is no reason to expect that the Cheney administration has any intention of giving up their gameplan at this point. Whether they are vying for conflict openly, and with U.S. military assistance, or privately, through capital flow, financial agreements, resource extraction and private security contractors, as long as there are public contracts to be handed out, resources to be pillaged and a public to be manipuated and duped into subservience, the blob will continue to devour.

Democrats and Republicans must make it clear that war is not a game to be waged by either governments or corporations and that predatory economics facilitated by American tax dollars carelessly tossed to War Corporations are no longer advocated by the U.S. government or the People, as the Cheney Co. government has subsidized the swindling of nations around the world through direct military intervention, subversion or by practicing a kind of corporate socialism that makes boardrooms more powerful than democratically elected legislatures.

Never, ]never, in the history of the United States, has impeachment been more appropriate, has massive governmental reform been more necessary, and civic participation, discussion, and involvement, been more urgent.

The civic malaise, lack of moral integrity, and recklessness of consumption within our society, from oil to entertainment, has got to be countered with action, thoughtfulness, ingenuity, confidence, courage, and consideration. The U.S. has been in a state of perpetual National Emergency for over 50 years, it has cost the citizenry dearly and debased even the most noble, dutiful leaders who have sought to preserve justice  and further realize the intentions of the Constitution.

Unless we focus on restoring the liberties of the citizenry and the laws of this nation, which demand the prosecution of Cheney Co. along with the dismantlement of the institutions which allow gangsters like them to subvert the government, we will see the same people subverting Obama and any decent public servant, with a dagger ready behind a corporate curtain for any populist or Constitutionalist candidate.

As Obama himself has now stated that private military contractors will not be withdrawn from Iraq, and that neo-cons will be allowed access to Iraqi resources and industry, there is no reason to believe that a Pyrrhic  Obama presidency will contain the Corporate Internationalists, and the unpunished, legalized pillage of Iraq under Obama's oversight will eventually see the War Evangelists capable of raising enough money to steal future elections and buy back the Congress or the Presidency after a few years of Democratic misrule, which will be undermined by the complexity and gravity of the problems created by this radical administration.

We must remove this tumor and we must do so quickly or else we risk losing the patient.

A quick run-down of the procedure:

1. The Impeachment and Prosecution of the Criminals and Torturers in the current administration
2. Campaign Finance Reform to clean up elections, along with the abolition of electronic bribery machines
3. Ending the trend of unstudied and inconsiderate deregulation and privatization which outsources the civil sovereignty to stockholders and allows private mercenaries and weapons manufacturers undue influence within our civil government

4. Restoring Civil Liberties, abolishing torture and kidnapping and increasing Transparency in government
5. Ending the occupation of Iraq and allowing the Iraqi people the rights to the oil they sit on, and the right to autonomy, both economic and political

6. Retracting Cold War forces stationed around the globe and diverting government spending away from offensive military power back to education, healthcare, and domestic security, to divert the path taken over the past 50 years.
7. Crafting real energy solutions that free the U.S. from undue foreign influence
8. Restraining the flow of corporate capital and checking the weapons and security industries, which depend on injustice and conflict alone in order to profit, and who compromise the integrity of government administrators and officials tasked with decisions of war and peace.

This is the progressive agenda. This should be the American agenda.

The election of a president is not necessarily a change in government, and while Cheney Co. has not irreversibly destroyed the Constitution, justice, or the desire of most Americans to strive for domestic peace and prosperity, since those things will always outlive the aims and memories of shallow, profit-seeking, panderers to foreign tyrants and traitors to their own country, any additional foreign conflict will perhaps insure that the crimes of the administration become the collective crimes of the nation, as a whole, since a larger war will prevent us from domestic justice by requiring us to face down Iranian retaliation and a world in flames.

Never, never, in the entire history of this nation, has impeachment been more urgent to the survival of the republic. The political and psychological movements of the past 50 years have uprooted and neutered the democratic polity, inflated the government and the military to massive proportions, and aggrandized a small group of very dangerous criminals who are now openly raising private armies for private profits with the public treasury. If they are allowed to slip back into the shadows or retire unpunished then we will have allowed a dangerous precedent which will truly be recorded as the last nail in the coffin of the American republic.
