In misguided attempts to defend the need for hydrocarbon fuels, many neglect what geologist John Atcheson once termed in an extremely important article a “Ticking Time Bomb” (Baltimore Sun, 12-04). The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change told members of the Senate that we may have only about six more years, before we reach a tipping point, which could begin an irreversible acceleration of planetary warming. Sadly, that could threaten an end to most life on earth. Twice before, 55 million and 251 million years ago, warming caused by methane (probably from volcanoes) more than 20 times as harmful as Carbon Dioxide almost did just that. And methane is escaping into the atmosphere at an accelerating rate throughout the Arctic. This is an unrecognized emergency. It needs a response similar to that which followed the attack on Pearl Harbor. Human survival requires an overwhelming effort to replace oil and coal as quickly as possible.
We can dramatically reduce the need for fossil fuels by turning cars, trucks and buses into power plants when parked. A never before commercialized source of energy, the Zero Point Field, is making that possible. Zero Point Energy (ZPE) is abundant, renewable and inherently cost-effective. Electric vehicles powered by ZPE will need no batteries or recharge. When parked, they will be able to wirelessly provide up to 150 kW to the local utility. The sale of electricity may pay for the vehicles over a reasonable period of time. Cars so equipped will also be emergency power plants for homes and businesses. With conventional progress, mass production of such vehicles can happen within 5 years. On a crash basis, it might be done much more rapidly.
Other approaches to the use of ZPE suggest large power plants can be developed that are simpler, safer, and far less expensive, than nuclear power. This work is at an early stage. Should it prove practical, it could open another path to accelerated replacement of coal burning plants worldwide. With China building new coal plants every couple of weeks, this proprietary technology has a very high priority.
Most scientists and engineers will doubt practical conversion of ZPE is possible. Their skepticism is understandable until Independent Laboratory validation takes place. Demonstration Devices and toys will follow. No batteries required!
Imagine the impact on the economy and the huge number of potential new jobs. Who will not want a car that needs no fuel or recharge? Now, visualize owning a vehicle that might pay for itself!
Variations of pollution free ZPE conversion technology promise to sharply stimulate the world economy - as well as end any need to consider construction of additional coal or nuclear power plants.
