The war in Iraq has become one of boredomLike a formula film that we've seen before
That was tragic enough to watch the first time
But is just plain awful to endure as a sequel
Nothing about the war measures up to The Nam
That at least brought us a slew of great music
Meaningful new stories, exciting demonstrations
And an intense sense of purpose and pathos
The war in Iraq brings us exactly nothing new
But a limp sense of meaningless blood and gore
And even the so-called "good" things being done
Are pitifully poor compensation for the crimes
Committed in the name of Freedom and God
The whole endeavor smacks of a dysfunctional
And stubborn, attempt to repeat an ugly history
And win it this time, no matter what the price
In terms of lost lives, treasure, and values
With no one side holding the high, moral ground
We are truly caught up in the pathetic beating
Of an already dead, and mutilated, old horse
To the point of being covered up in so much crap
That we will eventually end up down on our knees
Exhausted from the sheer drudgery of it all
