NAACP Calls For Civil Rights Investigation
VIDEO: Pam Africa speaks at NAACP State Conference in Pennsylvania
On April 6, 2009, the US Supreme Court rejected Mumia Abu-Jamal's bid for a new guilt-phase trial, but the Court still has not ruled on the DA's effort to execute Abu-Jamal WITHOUT a new sentencing hearing.
As reported by The Philadelphia Inquirer, supporters responded by organizing a campaign calling for a federal investigation into Mumia's case. At the NAACP National Convention in July, a resolution was passed calling on Attorney General Eric Holder to investigate Mumia's case, as well as those of Troy Davis, Marshall Eddie Conway and Reggie Clemons.
