It is sad to see how the American empire is going down, brought on by the lack of compassion for fellow inhabitants of the planet, with greed and self interest fueling much of it, fostered from 28 years of lack of leadership.
With the dilemmas the USA find itself confronting were brought on by the Reagan Regime with many of its former administration officials a part of the self-appointed Bu$h II cabal.
The first shot against the middle class and union labor by firing the Air Traffic Controllers who were on strike at the time. With organized labor over the years surrendering pay, health insurance and pensions, while CEO's along with other management cadres pocketing vast sums of bonuses and company perks.
With company's stock becoming junk status, as its assets are broken up and sold off, while labor is out-sourced and off-shored to developing nations labor pools that absorb these jobs. Lax overseas environmental laws allow toxic products with piles of spooge to be manufactured in other parts of the globe.
While attacking the E.P.A. to slowly gut laws that protect the nations air, land and water resulting in the mountaintop removal/valley fill coal mining practices of West Virginia, the Tennessee recent sludge discharge, the retreat mining practices that killed several miners in Utah last year and many other acts against the health and well being of U.S. citizens over the years.
There is the GOP claim of a "Peace Dividend", more like a Peace Deficit, with the trillions of wasted $'s on Pentagon programs that after 28 years of funding, still can't function as envisioned. How a handful of "Insurgents" have the world's #1 military force bogged down over several fronts wasting trillions of $'s, billions unaccounted for millions of innocent killed maimed and turned into refugees.
The former USSR showed itself in the recent Georgia rout the Bear gave it. Mr. Putin is correct to say how irrelevant the USA is now after its financial institutions posted last year more $'s lost than they have ever showed a profit in the company's history. With these "Financial Wizards" have/are receiving more through the bailouts, rather than the prison cell they rightfully deserve.
There was by Reagan, referring to Saddam Hussein and Osma Bin Laden as "Freedom Fighter's" the Republicans have re-labeled "Terrorist's". Let's not forget the Iran-Contra weapons for cocaine scandle that were grounds for Impeachment these Felons had fomented against the USA, and if they were behind bars for these acts of Treason, then there would have been no Bu$h II cabal with its farce "War Of Terror" to wreck more financial and violent havoc and mayhem the past 8 years upon the USA and world at large.
Oliver North was bloviating on Fox News the other day about his military career and his opinions about what Obama administration should do with its M.E. policy. This is the last person who need to be giving advice, with his secretive REX 84 program, associations with Saddam Hussein, involvement in Iran-Contra, and other Treason related offenses.
Why was Saddam supported in the 80's by Reagan, and not another person who would have fostered democracy within Iraq at the time?
The historical note is this; if the U.S. wants democracy in the M.E., then why did the C.I.A. depose a democratic elected president of Iran in 1953 and replace him with the Shah?
Why was not the War Of Terror front upon Saudi Arabia, where most of the alleged 9/11 high-jackers come from, is democracy not encouraged upon its tyrannical from of government?
How I wonder if the USA had kept to the Carter Energy policy, the U.S.A. would not be so beholden to the M.E. oil supplying country's today. Mass transit infrastructure would abound across the country with green technologies already into successive generations of innovation.
Instead the solar panel system was dismantled on the White House and an age of gluttony that brought on the SUV, McMansion and possess now-pay later lifestyle was encouraged.
What the people forgot in Reagan was contrary to the "Family Values" he portrayed as a B rated actor resulting in his failed presidency. His swapping of wives and political party's have brought us the likes of Henry Hyde, Bob Barr, John Livingston, Tom Foley, Larry Craig, Newt Gingrich, and John McCain just to name a few.
The Reagan run-a-way deficit spending has brought the USA to its present point in time of where it must borrow more than 7 billion $'s every month from China, who once its markets become unhinged from the US economy won't be so beholden to provide.
The championing of deregulation has swamped the country in debt, allowing once prosperous company's that were the cornerstone of the the country to topple from incompetent management and only thinking about the few, here and now, not future generations of Americans and the country as a whole.
