It's called tunnel vision, and the Bush administration's disregard for ideas, opinions, or cold hard facts that deviate from, not just the party line of the good ole days, but rather the Bush doctrine, is made more apparent every time a member of the administration testifies on Capitol Hill.Like cult members who have relinquished all rational thought, they have given themselves to Bush, functioning in an altered reality where Bush's wishes are the law, and loyalty - abiding by that law, is rewarded with job security, no matter a lack of experience in any given field, an absence of general knowledge of world events, or a lack of any sense of the historical.
Within the Cult of Bush, taking an oath to protect the leader is sacrosanct.
The most recent Bushie to receive a subpoena to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee regarding what she knew about the U.S. attorney firings who actually showed up, was former White House Political Director Sara Taylor.
Taylor's job security of course was no longer an issue, as she resigned from her position when it became clear that she may have to say things in public that would cast her leader in a bad light.
She nevertheless testified, but under restrictions that prohibited that blasphemy, as Bush cited executive privlege - and a Bush girl never forgets who's her daddy, stating :
"I took an oath to the president, and I take that oath very seriously."
Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-VT) asked her if she wanted to clairify,"Did you mean, perhaps, you took an oath to the Constitution?"
